This is my dear, dear Friend Zeb...
As a person he is wonderful, sweet, funny and a true gem...
As a poet he is all of the above, very talented, clever, wise and suprising...
As a very gifted 'language-wizzard' he keeps amazing me every day...

I was born and lived in Dublin's inner city centre in 1979... My nanny "Flo" was from Coventry. She was separated from her family during the war in the 40's and was moved to Ireland. She was an inspiring woman. She died of cancer several years ago. I owe most of my writing pas-sions to her.

I attended numerous schools as my family moved a couple of times, never had a problem ad-justing to new surroundings or making new friends. Teachers hated me as I was always too cheeky and still I knew the answers to all their questions. I was top of my class in every school I attended even though the teachers made my life hell, with detentions and so forth...

(For being contradictory to the cirriculum..mostly..especially in English Studies and being very loquacious).

Even though all my teachers failing me in my mock exams for the main Irish Education Certificates, I achieved one of the best results in the school. Despite being hung-over for several of the exams and I enjoyed proving them all wrong and have learned to be fluent

in three languages and more than capable in five others..

I have been working in the construction industry for 10 years as floor layer. Mostly raised access floors and have travelled all over Ireland with this job.Met loads of interesting cha-racters from all walks of life, along the way.

I married too young and am separated over two years now. (Nuf sed). I am an avid poker player and have won several tournaments, on line and live mostly. I came 6th in the 1st ever Victor Chandler Irish pub tour. Almost qualified for the big tournament in England (Always next year)...

Recently I purchased a laptop, got a phone line and began exploring the net...

My writing has come on leaps and bounds since then. I mostly just wrote in old copies and never gave it much thought until my laptop and since I discovered the web. I’ve been published in many anthologies. Received several awards for my work. I came third in an Irish writing competition, run by a well known radio station in Dublin. I have a print on demand contract with an online publisher and my book of 50 poems "Radiant Lightning", is available for mail order, click link below:

Zeb's ode in Ilongo, to his lovely girlfriend, Joesah Mae...

Dugos Ko…

Joesah amo dugos ko

Odipisyo akon kasing-kasing

Elektrisidad amon na batyag
Sa atubangan dagat imo balay
A
bay ako nagakinahanglan ikaw
Habohabo ikaw sang haluk

Maabtik, malaam kag mahagop
A
bli imo kalag
E
klipse akon kasing-kasing

A
bag ako kadlaw
N
adestino na manging upod
G
abok akong balatyagon indi maghupot

The English version...

My honey bee…

Joesah is my honey bee

Building my heart

Our feelings like electricity

In a house in front of the sea

I know she needs

Showering with kisses

Bright, smart and understanding

Unpack your soul

Eclipse my heart

Help me laugh

Destinded to be with you

My tender feelings can’t be squeezed

Before and After You Leave

Cancer's eaten it's lips it's licking
Angst ridden your clock is ticking,
Morphine doses continually rising
Eases a disease so uncompromising.

Ferocious frustration keeps on mounting
Hurting to help the days I'm counting,
Watching you wither from strong to weak
Loathing a future so grim, so bleak.

Deathly shadows hovering 'round your bed
Feelings overwhelm my tortured little head,
Growing unhindered inside the putrid blight
Daily drains your amazing will to fight.

Seeking solace I remember your glowing smile but
Death has been waiting to see it as well for a while,
Regretfully tender tears of woeful sorrow you'll receive
Unavoidably in bucketfuls before and after you leave.

Imperfect Rhyme

Morning dewdrops trickling off
Their purple petals baby soft,
A lifting mist skews my view
As yawning roses rise to bloom.

Crisp coldness shakes my bones
Bar the little ones in my toes,
Slowly creeping numbness hinders
Inspiration from rigid fingers.

Teasing raindrops falling hazy
Suddenly feeling a little cagey,
Wet toes, wet clothes, getting sad
Vacating a field as gorgeous as that.

Weather permitting I shall return
Preferably later and in the sun,
Capturing the roses in words of mine
In a poem void of imperfect rhyme.

Soliloquy to Zeus (a stasimon)

A waternymph I know Zeus
Has set my heart aglow Zeus
Drinkin' from her fountain' Zues
Upon Kleoda's mountain Zeus

A poetry protectress of styles Zeus
Unicorns weep when she smiles Zeus
Overjoyed with glee I've met her Zeus
Our days continue to get better Zeus

She's a banquet and I'm invited Zeus
Feasting on her charms delighted Zeus
Shame her fountain's so far away Zeus
Wish I could visit it everyday Zeus

I know you can easily tell Zeus
She has me under a spell Zeus
I hope it never ends Zeus
And we're always friends Zeus

Vampire’s Theory

Mark my words blood lovers
And go tell all the others,
Our day in the sun acommeth
The human race will plummet.

Post World War III I'm guessing
A nuclear winter is our blessing,
In forevernight we shall reign
And ravish free on jugular vein.

Let frenzied rippin' and tarin'
Unhindered suckin' and scarin',
Commence without hesitation
Amidst their devastation.

Vicious visions in my bones
Sing with bloody dulcet tones,
Of our naive prey I'm weary
Believe this Vampire's Theory.

Beautifully Ugly (oxymoronic sonnet)

Wondrous waves hurtling ashore
Unmerciful tsunami nothing more.
Longlost seabeds foreverly dry
Apeppered sparse in lonesome cacti.
Anciently sleeping jagged mountains
Silently threatening lava fountains.
Rampantly feasting wildfire aglow
Devouring forests fast not slow.

Man and nature combining tricks
Begets rainbow laden oily slicks.
Intricate lattice to kill afresh
A spiders weaving silken mesh
Paradoxial perfection fits snugly
In a world so beautifully ugly.

Broken Hearts Entow 2006

My voice I hear yet I speak no words.
A mind, a soul an intellect?
Shadow 'n' doubt acontsant
Nothin's aclearin' my conscience.

Gripped by an inhospitable loneliness
I'm achin' in sufferance alone as
Reminders aplenty of what once was,
Taunt my being without a pause.

I've no escape nor a place to avoid
Awishing you were still at my side
Life's been rough 'n' tough awhile
But I take it on the chin with a smile.

Never again shall we be in the same place,
The hatred agrew 'n' took over.
Horrible I know, we've anothin' to show
But abroken hearts entow.
