my homeland, risen from a marshy coast
so bravely fought against old
water’s will
each polder gained, just by an ancient mill
most open seamouths conquered, tamed or closed...
my meadows musing in their blissful strength
black spotted cattle roaming
through the green
a wealth of cities one has never seen
a culture of interminable length...
my Holland, cherished close to Europe’s chest
both small and strong,
both modern and antique
a monarchy, beloved, light and chique
a place of colors and for me: the Best...
